[Help] I think I screwed up this rubber strap

I really wanted a plain rubber strap and I ordered the cinturini 300 for my seiko OM as an impulse buy.

I jammed the fat spring bars into the rubber and it seems to have crimped it at the ends and now the strap is not snug between the lugs. Am I screwed? Should I attempt to remove the fat bars with pliers? They are really jammed in there.

This strap is very nice, it's dense and smells like vanilla. If this one is not salvageable, should I buy another one and use regular 20mm spring bars next time?

I have a video of the watch on youtube but this forum is not letting me post them because I don't have enough posts.

    =(

I would try pliers first but if the strap shape doesn't recover at the lugs I think you are going to need to buy a new one and just go with normal spring bars.

Good idea thanks. It worked. However I left little dimples. It's alright, lesson learned. Will be more patient next time.

That's why I always wet the spring bars before installing into a rubber strap.

twente(o) on eBay has 1.78mm springbars with fat 1.1mm ends. Use those for aftermarket straps.
