Black or blue alligator strap and folding clasp for my new Chronoswiss?

I just recently purchased my grail watch from a seller abroad, and had it shipped without its original alligator strap (which was worn out, anyway) to avoid import issues. Iím currently trying to decide between a very dark navy blue or black alligator strap. Leaning toward the dark blue, but a bit concerned that it might be a bit too offbeat for daily wear here in the U.S. I typically wear dark grey or blue suits to work, and have other watches for other colors.

Iím also debating whether to get a matching branded folding clasp instead of using the original pin buckle included with the watch. Itíd be an additional $350 for that (new).

For what I believe is my 100th post, what does everyone think? Blue or black (or another color), and is the folding clasp worth it? Thanks!

The blue one would look like one of these currently listed on eBay:

A blue strap will pick up the details on the watch much more nicely. If you are going to invest in a really nice strap a deployant clasp is always a great way to increase strap life. The only drawback to a deployant is that some people find them a little bulky and uncomfortable. I am not one of them ;) . Beautiful watch BTW.

I think the blue alligator would go nicely with the watch, especially if you primarily wear grey and navy suits.

    Folding Clasp is required.

I really like the idea of blue, but "very dark navy" will tend to look like black that's just a bit "off". Once you get so close to black, you might as well get black. For me, I'd want a deep blue that isn't too much darker than the hands or moonphase. I can't remember a business situation in which a dark blue strap would not work with a navy or grey suit.

I'm a big believer in deployants, but the straps in the pictures will need a butterfly style deployant, and I haven't found one better than the rhd model. I have single folds that are my favorites, but they all require straps that are made for them.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their input. After two months of waiting for an (unexpectedly necessary) overhaul of my Lunar to be completed, I finally received it back today on the new blue strap that I ended up choosing. Still debating getting the folding clasp, but for now I’m just enjoying actually getting to wear my grail watch for the first time!

Beautiful watch, I would find the pin buckle to be more elegant on this one.
