CAN YOU POLISH BLACK PVC TO LOOK SHINEY INSTEAD OF MATTE?

I have ordered a Hadley Roma black PVC coated solid link watch band ($69.95). It looks from the picture to be a matte finnish. Does anyone out there know if I can polish the PVC so it has a slight shine? I think it would look better with my watch, which is a Seiko diver with black face and polished/matte stainless steel bezel. I have looked all over the net for the answer, and then remembered I am a member of Watchyouseek. Any feed back would be most appreciated. Thanks. (By the way, I made sure there was a good return policy for the band before ordering.)

    Do you mean black PVD?
I'm not an expert, many more on here are, but i would say no, as the pvd process infuse's the metal to i think around 30 microns so polishing wont work.
I am sure that someone more qualified will be along shortly though.

I don't think so, either. The finish depends on the finish of the base metal prior to the application of the coating. Unfortunately, you are stuck with it.

    Sorry for the bad news.

Thank you. It looks like you are both right. I just checked with a watch repair store and they said that it could not be done and they highly recomend not doing trying it. I also found out that the band does have a slight shine to it and does not look like the picture, so I might not have to return it after all. Thanks again. Any more in put is welcome.
