Hey all, Im thinking about buying some Barton canvas straps for my speedy. How do canvas straps work out for sweaty summer days?

Waxed canvas may be best (absorb less sweat and require less washing) but costly to tryout.

    Can't comment on Barton straps.

Do you plan on doing rigorous outdoor activity, or just wearing the watch to and from work, gym, store, etc...?

No rigorous activity other than chasing a 3 year old through the park :-D but our summers are hot and humid so I sweat just thinking about it
    Thanks for your input

    Nope, go rubber.

Or go for NATO / ZULU which you can wash as they get a bit munty. Unless of course the canvas takes to washing?

I posted this after ordering a Haveston strap, but then I realized they're a poly material and not canvas anyway so hopefully that will work out fine. I still wanted to order the Barton, so the question remains.

    Thanks

I'd be worried the canvas is going to soak and hold the sweat.

My first choice for summer is perlon. Shouldn't hold the sweat as much, and much easier to wash.

I have several canvas including the Barton’s. I quite like them for hot weather. They dry a bit slower than perlon but don’t acquire stink like nylon and are easy to wash. Timefactors also makes good and cheap canvas minus the quick release.

The Barton silicone is superb as well.

ah was also looking in to these specific straps. I think they changed the inner material so it is more waterproof.

Re: Canvas straps for humid summers?

It's already hot and humid here in Atlanta and I spend a lot of active/sweaty time outdoors, and I prefer canvas. To wash I just stick them in the pocket of a pair of jeans (I have a bunch of Bartons) and send them through the wash, quick release spring bars and all. That also helps age them. I haven't worn any of my Natos or Zulus since it got hot. The white one gets dirty pretty fast, but that's what the washing machine's for.
