    Curved spring bars?

It doesn't seem like curved spring bars would seat as fully in the lugs, and therefore wouldn't hold the strap on as sturdily. Is this true? I found a 23mm strap that I like for an Orient Air Diver MForce, but requires curved spring bars. It's a Suunto strap - thoughts?

    Re: Curved spring bars?

I've used curved bars for some time, on a few watches that have the holes drilled a bit close to the case for thicker straps to fit and have never had one come adrift and my strap seems to be just as solidly attached as with straight bars.
    Hope this helps

Thanks, I'll look at the holes on the M Force -I think they're drilled all the way through.

Won't matter too much if they're drilled or not, you'll be fine using curved bars.

I have two watches with curved bars and never had any issues.

    Re: Curved spring bars?

Do watches that come with curved spring pins have the holes drilled at a slight angle to accommodate the angle at which the spring bars enter the holes, or is the difference so negligible that it doesn't matter?

Not all drilled out holes are of the same inner diameter. Many if not all Seiko divers have a larger inner diameter than those of say the Marathon watch cases. If you plan to use a shouldered springbar, they may potentially stick or even lodge themselves in the drilled lugs. Worse if they are curved. I personally wouldn' t use curved bars with drilled out lugs. Remember, conventional shouldered bars tips bottom out into NON- drilled out lugs. Not so for DRILLED out lugs.

    Re: Curved spring bars?

Good point - I've always used the original spring bars when swapping out straps/bracelets. I think I'll pass on the strap that requires curved spring bars.

    Thanks.

    Re: Curved spring bars?

Are the original spring bars of the fat variety then ?
    If not i wouldn't worry.
