    How to clean straps?

Any good ideas on this topic? Leather and nylon get gross in short order here in Florida.

I just wash nylon straps with soap and water. For my leather straps, I have started conditioning then with a home made combination of beeswax+coconut butter. I haven't had one get any kind of stains (yet), so not sure how to deal with that.

Try the Allen Edmonds cleaner/conditioner. Nice and mild. Doesn't get greasy.
    Very inexpensive as well.
I haven't had it permanently darken anything but as always test a small inconspicuous spot first.

    Allen Edmonds product works great.

You can also find good leather cleaners/conditioners at any decent automotive website like AutoGeek.net

Nylon is easy, scrub with water and dish soap. Leather is tough when it gets that BO smell. I tried everything and ended up soaking in 10% bleach 90% water solution for a few hours. Everyone will tell you not to do this but it's the only thing that got the smell out for me. BTW after the bleach soak I did a water only soak and then pressed excess water out then air dried. There was no apparent damage to strap.

    Re: How to clean straps?

I usually don't wear a leather strap here in the North East USA when it's hot and humid, because they are uncomfortable. So I've never had to clean any of my leather straps yet.

However, when it's hot and sticky, I throw my nato into the washing machine once a week with my laundry. Seems to clean it fine.
