    How to soften a NATO?

So I got a premium NATO from Crown&Buckle and its a bit scratchy honestly. Any tips for softening it up/breaking it in? I buckled it in a loop the same size as how I wear it and stuck it in the cargo pocket of a pair of pants and have it in the wash right now. But if that doesn't help, what else can I do? The stitching on the back is a bit irritating too. I've tried using a lighter to smooth the sharper points of the stitching too, but I feel like there should be a better way. Anyone out there have some better techniques?

I would guess it will loosen up with more wrist time. Not sure if there is a better answer, but here are a couple older threads on this topic, and probably more on the forum as well.

    Good luck.

Besides smoothing thread with a lighter and my finger, I've also used nail clippers to trim sharp points on nato threads. I think the nail clippers actually work a little better.

The premium natos are definitely stiffer than the regular natos. They will break in eventually. I personally prefer the unstitched regular natos, but they're impossible to find with alternate hardware.
