I would love some strap suggestions for this

    Hello everyone,

Here is a photo of my 'Sunday watch', a Bulova Accutron Rail Road Approved with the 218 tuning fork movement, just like my late father had when I was a kid.

The problem is my selection of bands was limited to the rotating plastic display case in most jewelers shops (just a cheap Speidel I think). I didn't realize how many different options there were until I started lurking in this forum.

Can some of you aficionados suggest a strap that would look good on this watch? I am open to different colours and materials (would rubber look OK?).

The lug distance is 18mm I believe so that may make it hard to fit. (I checked Panatime and 20mm is their smallest.)

    Any help is much appreciated,

    - Chad

Thanks for the tip Automatic... I hadn't even considered that.
The watch is pretty small 34mm x 41mm... does that cut my options down a bit?

Ninjafish, I am trying to replicate my late father's Longines. I think that is real cool. If I can find something good for you, I will let you know. Take care...

    Thanks dools,
I remember listening to my dad's watch hum when I was a little kid, but it was only after the funeral that I took interest in it again.
Unfortunately I could not find the original, but during the search for a replacement I came in contact with this world of watch collecting - and got hooked .

I thought a nicer band might compliment the watch even more... and give it a new look for another generation...

Best of luck in your search,

    - Chad

Another thought is to have Shane DeLaurian to make you a custom strap. www.delaurian.com

I ended up going with a bund strap from rmnilson on ebay. It was the inexpensive route but I couldn't be happier with the upgrade because it really sets the watch off nicely. I will try and post a photo tomorrow.

    Cheers,

Because I no longer need suggestions here, I started a new thread with the photos.
