Which kinds off Mesh bracelets are there and do any make 19mm Mesh bands? Suggestions?

    As title states.
I have always been against mesh straps but I have a (way more than one actually) vintage diver that would look good on it I think.
Now I am a guy who knows his leathers.his bracelets, from NSA to Gay Freres , and his rubbers , From NOS Tropics to IsoFrane.

    But mesh straps elude me.

Which kinds are there, what is the so called Shark Mesh.?
Which buckle should I choose? A seatbelt clasp or the fold buckle?

Are there any makers that offer 19mm or should I be able to compress them with some pliers and a torch from a 20mm?

And at last, I am thinking about spending 50 to 60 euro. Will that get me anything decent?

    Cheers

You can get mesh in 19mm. Strapcode sell a variety and your budget should be able to get you something decent.

You should be able to fit a 20mm on a 19mm. I do it on my Tissot because it is 19mm. If you want mesh, leather, or NATO/Zulu you will be fine with a 20mm. I would really stick to 19mm when shopping for metal bands to avoid have to file it down. Hope this helps

A 20mm Shark mesh will fit a 19mm lug spacing because the end links can be pressed in slightly to fit the space, or you can simply cut out one of the links from one side. You can't do this with a Milanese mesh because the much tighter, jewelery quality, links require an end tube to accommodate the spring bars and the 20mm tube won't fit between 19mm lugs.

Here's the difference between Shark mesh (tool/diver) and it's dressier cousin, Milanese mesh. Most Shark mesh you see for sale are cheap, Chinese made product, while most Milanese mesh is much higher quality and primarily German made.

Strapcode.com and its sister site, tungchoy.com should be able to meet your needs.

I'm looking for a 19mm Milanese mesh and I've not been able to find one whatsoever, the above sites included.

Anyone aware of any 19mm Milanese?

I've never seen one, but I experimented once on a Milanese mesh and cut the tube down 1mm using a Dremel cutting wheel. It worked.

Just to add some clarification for the benefit of readers... what 19mm mesh bracelets on eBay or from the suppliers mentioned above usually are, are shark mesh bracelets that are claimed to fit both 19mm or 20mm lugs (they are actually 20mm, but because they have loose links and lack end tubes the links can be squeezed our cut out to fit 19mm). This, of course, doesn’t apply to Milanese mesh bracelets, which must be sized exactly due to the different link design and the requirement for spring bar tubes.

Anyone know why the 19mm mesh bracelets are no longer available?
