leather band to mesh metal band?

    I have this watch:

    https://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Amer...petite+seconde

which comes with a leather band. I want to be able to take my watch in the pool and/or not having to worry if it gets wet. I was thinking of changing the band to a metal one. I specially like the metal mesh type and I thought the black band with gold-colored watch would look nice.

I was thinking of something like this:

I am a little afraid of its cheap price? Could you provide some feedback as to this change?

I don't think it will work. The watch listing shows 21 mm width. You can put a 20mm band on it, using the 21mm spring bars already there...but you can't squeeze 22mm between 21 mm lugs.

    Here's one option:

Design wise, I have actually been surprised on many occasions when I swapped out my leather band for a mesh (stainless colored or I have a gold colored one) and I have been verrrrrrry surprised. It actually gives a new life to the watch. I think it will look good on your watch given you get the correct size! :)

I saw a 22 on my band and assumed that was the width?

Yeah, that's the strap width. I was looking at the listing on Amazon you linked to; it says 21. It could be wrong...but not necessarily. You can usually squeeze a 22mm strap into 21mm lugs...but not a 22mm mesh.

Hmm. I'm not finding this model number on Hamilton's web site at all. There's a Railroad Small Seconds, but the look's a bit different. So I'm not sure.

Well, you can try it. Not like you're out a bunch if it doesn't work out.

JMO but black mesh on a gold case won't go well but at that price it may be worth a shot. There's a reason why Hamilton pairs that watch with a nice brown croco calf strap, it works the best with that case/dial combo.

if you do get that strap go ahead and snap a pic for us to see. Im a little skeptical with the black on gold but hey it could work!

Black and gold is a truly classic combination, and one of my favorites.

The problem is gonna be with the dial color, and yeah, that might not work.

Ahhh, here we go! Couldn't remember the site.

Some different colorations you don't see very often.

If you were in Pittsburgh the black and gold combo would be considered very fashionable, especially since the Steelers season has started. Like some others, I'm a little skeptical. A gold mesh may be too much gold or may not match the color of the case. There are waterproof leather straps but they might be a little pricey. I guess you could put it on a NATO just to wear in water if you don't mind doing the strap changes.
