    Laughing Leather Straps Pliable Enough?

Any recommendation on some leather strap that is pliable enough? Most of the straps I tried are pretty STIFF, not sure if that has anything to do with the material of the strap. I just don't like some part of the strap bending and floating in the air instead of on my wrist.

    Thank you all.

Give it time. Any decent quality strap will soften up a lot over time.

A little more information from you would help, things like what type watch will enable people to offer more specific recommendations.

A good basic rule could be to avoid straps that are thick. I mean thick like 4 or 5mm leather, they are gonna be stiff. I use Hirsch straps and have never been dissatisfied.

No need to give it some water? Rumor says that water will help reshape and make it softer.

I got a Credor quartz, it's a bit old and not as large as the modern watches, and the 17mm lug to lug size strap is kind of hard to find. I found Hirsch is actually one of a few strap makers that provide this size, but didn't really find any review on that. I may give it a try later on.

I actually never seen a leather strap that is 4 or 5mm thick, that'd be even thicker than most of the bracelets!

Really there are only two kinds of straps that are stiff, and stay stiff after a reasonable amount of wear in.

Straps with really strong padding, like 6-7mm padding, once the padding (or potentially straight thickness) of a strap hits a certain point you are only going to get it so pliable.
    or
Straps that are straight up low quality junk.

Sounds like your previous leather straps fall into group 2. Hirsch is fine, many of their straps (like the Liberty or Knight) will start stiff, but will loosen up over time. Do not try any weird gimmicks or tricks, just wear the strap, it will take care of itself.

Also look at vintage-style straps. They only have stitching at the ends where you need the slot to hold the spring bar/buckle. Sometimes they're full-grain leather, which will be a bit stiff (but loosen up readily); more often they're a good bit thinner. Most suede will be very pliable. And going a bit upscale, there's shell cordovan. Pretty glossy, which sometimes isn't right, but might be my favorite higher-end strap material when that is appropriate.

Shell Cordovan or more affordable Chromexcel straps. Ultra soft.
