Looking for insight into how H. Stern Sapphire bands attach.

I just picked up an old H. Stern sapphire watch at an estate sale. Only trouble is the band that connects to the watch through a single t-bar lug is broken. I didn't look that closely at the watch until I got home, and had figured it would be as easy as getting another t bar screw lug and replacing it... Well when I started fiddling with the watch I realized that while the band looks like it has a simple t bar screw holding the band on it doesn't seem to work that way. I tried to unscrew the good side of the band from the watch so I could get a measurement of the screw I would need to fix the broken side and turning the screw doesn't seem to do anything. Nothing gets looser, I look at the end opposite the screw that I'm turning to make sure I'm not turning the whole thing and that side isn't turning when I unscrew the other side... but nothing seems to be happening.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of watch? I don't want to mess things up royally trying to fix it.

Pictures of the watch and band will help with responses.

You might also consider reposting this in the "Pocket Watch and Vintage" section of this site if you don't get many responses here.
