    Nato or sell...?

Purchased a Caravelle NY watch 45A107 few months back because I love the color of the dial.
But after taking it out of box it just looks awkward on the wrist.
There is a large gap between the braclett and watch.

Still has tags. I've been debating selling it or keeping it and putting on a nato strap to fix the awkward gap.

    Opinions?

*This is only my 2nd post. And I am very new to watches.
I'm not sure if all bars the holds straps abd braclets on can come off?

what is the width between the lugs?
it should look nice on a Nato Strap.

That's normal. Any 2 piece strap will show that gap. Bracelets can also be made so there's a curved chunk that fills that gap. Few aftermarket bracelets do it because it's quite specific to the watch. If this wasn't expensive, then it wasn't done because it would've cost them more.

I just looked...that's exactly why they did it. End links would've cost an extra $1 or 2.

Anyway, if you like the look and it runs OK for you, by all means get a NATO or perlon. Perlon might be tricky as it's 24mm, and you don't often see perlon quite that wide. Might not be all that easy to find a NATO that wide, for that matter. StrapCode has their MilTAT perlon in 24mm. Haven't tried them, but the weave looks much better than the typical. Price isn't cheap, but if it's decent, that wouldn't bother me. I'd rather do perlon than nylon, because nylon tends to be too shiny. But YMMV.

But before you consider a strap, is it awkward because it's too big, or just because the gaps bother you? That is one big watch (44mm, 12 mm high) and there's nothing a strap can do to fix that.

    Perlon?
    MiTAT perlon?

I'm still a newb. so those are new words to me. I'll have to check them out.

From what I recall it didn't seem to big. I was never a big fan of "big" watches. But I recently got a few right around the 43-43.5mm size and they seemed ok.

    The watch was only $34.95
On eBay there are all kinds of 24mm natos

*BTW: Are al nato straps the same length?

Perlon is a nylon variant, but comes in a twisted fiber. That means the strap's woven...which also means it has no pre-cut holes.

Go to strapcode.com and click on MilTAT perlon on the left.

eBay straps are a mixed bag, but rather often, you'll get what you paid for...which isn't a compliment, but a warning. That said, yeah, I saw it wasn't an expensive piece. The StrapCode perlon is $30, so you might not want to go that way. A black or olive NATO is worth a shot.

No, not all NATOs are entirely the same length, but generally the idea is for them to be extra long. You're supposed to tuck the excess back into the keepers. Me, I often just cut it off.

As for buying off eBay...I'm gonna advise against it. Several sellers here use eBay, yes, but so do many lowball, junky strap makers. Browse a while through the forum; lots to learn, and you'll get lots of feedback about better sellers. There is one eBay seller I will actively advise *against*...for details, see here:

NATO it. Panatime has some nice ones, for not a lot. I just got a 24 mm orange/black for this watch:
    (before)

    and after:

This is the shortest of 3 different lengths at 10.5"/267 mm, 11.75"/298 mm and 12"/308 mm.

This is a 47 mm watch and I have a small wrist at 6.5" to 6.75". I ordered 267 mm and it works great.

    Re: Nato or sell...?

I know I've seen green/black like that orange/black, too...maybe not Panatime, but I've seen it. And that would be perfect.

See, this is the second part of the Curse of the WIS...you'll start buying straps until they're all perfect! :)

I love perlon, but I agree that this cries out for a black and green striped NATO.
