    NATO strap is scratchy

I just installed a nice NATO strap I got during the Black Friday sale at natostrapco.com. It looks nice but there are some jagged edges in the nylon that are irritating my wrist. I think this is from the stitching around the buckle. How does one smooth out these nylon straps? I could clip the jagged piece but I don't want to weaken the stitching. Can it be melted or sanded? What techniques do you use?

Heat with a lighter til soft and push down before it cools and sets. Takes very little time.

Try washing it. The ones I got from BluSharkStraps didn't have that problem but once I washed it, it did get softer.

I use a nail file or fine leatherman file to soften up the hard ends that itch // as mentioned, if it frays just use a lighter to seal it again.

whether it is burned edges or stitching, there's often something that will scratch: I use small sanding pads to take the sharpness off.

    Agree.

Although alot are the same quality in the same price range, there are great, good, and not-as-good natos out there.

    Re: NATO strap is scratchy

I used a nail file on a NATO I received with some sharp points where the nylon had been heated/melted or stitched.
I recommend avoiding any 'Premium' NATO's, as the nylon is stiffer, and the stitching can create rough areas.
