    Need strap but no buckle...

(I have been searching for a while, but in vain - so here goes:) does anybody know where I can buy straps without buckles? I have several watches waiting for straps and every-single-strap I see online comes with a buckle.

Well, I do not want it! I want to use the buckles that came w/ the watches. I know I can replace the buckles but
    a) it seems wasteful (what am I going to do w/ the unused buckles? I hate to throw away things)
    b) I do not want to have to pay for them

Now I suspect that if I go custom, they will be more than happy to.... but I do not want to go that way (I do not want to get an expensive strap either. $75 should be the limit).

Does any vendor sell such stuff?

As far as I know straps normally come with a buckle unless you buy a custom strap. Buckles are often branded by the manufacturer so the idea is that they show their logo so buckles are meant to be delivered with the strap. Some vendors offer the option of choosing either steel or plated buckle so I guess you could just email them and ask that they'll send the strap without the buckle. But the cost of normal steel buckles is probably so minimal for the strap manufacturers (unless they sell them separately when they try to charge you $$$) so I doubt that you'll get any discount if you ask to buy a strap without a buckle. You can either scrap the extra buckles, give them away or just keep the spring bar for another use.

Simple. Ask the vendor you are buying the strap from not to include the buckle. They might give you a small discount if you ask nicely... but buckles are very inexpensive, so I wouldn't expect much.

How much could you possibly save by going buckle-free? It can't be more than a dollar or two tops.

Found a place on the web that carries em. $1 each.

By and large, yeah, I'd not worry about it. Stash the buckle to have a spare should one get mangled. Or just toss it.

Lotta cut to order shops will offer a variety of buckles...maybe just get something different that you might need. Like black PVD. You might prefer it for a black strap, or for a dark case where the OEM buckle was plain stainless.

Since it's not really costing me anything, I like to keep spares around.

Grazie mille to everybody that responded.

I guess I will have to - out of curiosity - ask that the buckle/spring bars are not included, to see how much discount I will get (although I cannot think of any polite way to ask for said discount) (gangrel, above, mentioned the going price, but the labor to fit them onto the strap should amount to something, too)

The spring bars may be worth keeping, actually...

Well, considering the labor cost would be subsumed in the overall time to make the whole strap...at that point it's pretty much zip. :)

I was just trying to find strap material in general. It's like it's a 'big secret'. I have some watches that I want to make my own custom straps for, but finding strap material in proper colors and dimensions is pretty difficult.
