That's a chunky looking leather sandwich.

    Re: New homemade straps...

I made some watch protectors today. You slip the strap through the piece of leather and it covers the back of the watch protecting it from corrosive sweat. The first only has two slits so it does not fit to the wrist so well. The second has four so it conforms better.I used a couple of peices of black leather cut and shaped from an old belt and my tools were a multi size hole punch a pocket knife and a pen.Take the wach with the strap on and center it on the piece of leather.Next trace the end of the strap then do it again about half an inch away .Repeat for the other side.Line up a small cutting tube on your hole punch .Punch a circular hole on each end of the marks where you will cut .Make it as small as you can get away with .You can always make it larger if necessary.Cut the leather through on the lines you have marked on the leather.Slide the strap on the bottom of the watch though the two slits at the bottom of the leather peice(shiny side up) .Take off the strap half on the top of the watch remove the pin.Slide it through the two slits at the top.Put the pin back in the strap compress the pin and reattach the strap to the watch. You are done. Both protectors are a bit rough but serviceable and the cost was minimal.

I dig the yellow one with the black middle layer. I'm working on a layered one right now, too
