    New Strap Saves My Oris!

This post is an adjunct to my "A good strap makes a decent watch great"(https://forums.watchuseek.com/f222/g...t-5102039.html)

I really don't get why companies like Oris are so amateurishly awful at watch design? The bronze case and green dial on Oris' "Big Crown Pointer Date 80th Anniversary" are bespoke. Oris literally knocked off their own design from 80 years ago. And that's why I bought the watch. But the strap sucked! It's ugly, cheap, dry leather clashes with the bronze watch case and the buckle shaves the strap (bad fit). Nor am I a fan of 20mm-16mm strap configurations. Long story short, the strap ruined the watch for me and I was on the verge of selling it. But I knew that "a good strap makes a decent watch great". So, I had a strap custom made that is a much, much better match! It saves the watch for me. My Oris is now a keeper!

An interesting colour choice, the custom made strap looks great on your watch and wrist.

Thanks! I find dials with vivid colors are flattered by complimentary colored straps.

This thread brings back memories of a strap I once saw on an Oris that absolutely made it pop. A great strap really can make a watch, nice choice on the custom green!
