    Perlon: Versatile or Casual Only?

    Hey everyone,
I've been wearing my 38mm C60 Trident Pro 600 on several Eulit perlon straps lately, and they're my new favorite. They're light-weight, easily adjustable, waterproof, and cleaner looking than nato straps in my opinion.

Here's my question, how versatile do you think they are? I'd never wear one for a formal event (e.g. tux), but I think I may be able to pull them off with a sport coat and slacks.

So what's your view on perlon, versatile, or casual only?

In light or bright colors, casual. Black, very dark brown or blue, potentially OK with coat and slacks. Twould depend on the watch at that point. A diver, probably not. A fairly clean chronograph, probably. My Slimline Square (just to stay in the CWs), yes.

Come to think...a Nomos champagne neomatik could be worn on pale yellow perlon with a coat and slacks. If you have the confidence to wear the champagne neo, then any reasonably harmonious strap is just not an issue. :)

I feel like they could be quite versatile. Just put in an order for a few subtle, darker-coloured perlons last week so when they arrive I shall put them through their paces to see how they fare in various situations with various outfits.

The image you're painting is sporty, smart casual outfit, in which I think a "dressy" diver on a perlon wouldn't look out of place.

I'm biased. "Dressy diver" is an oxymoron in my book. :)

    True that. Haha.

I didn't know how else to broadly classify watches like the Sub, for instance.

They lean casual but I actually think they can be "dressier" than traditional nylon straps are.

I have seen a few on nice Germany watches with a darker colour and they look pretty formal to me.

Never going to pass for an ABP type strap, but I think they are nice and are certainly comfy.

I wore this on a grey Perlon as a groomsman in my friend's wedding. Needed one watch for an entire weekend's worth of events and my dress pieces wouldn't have survived.

Nobody notices your watch. Wear what you like and is comfortable.

I think Perlon can definitely be worn in sport coat & slacks. Yes it's a more casual material but it is more versatile than nylon (especially in a muted darker colour e.g. black or brown).

I've even worn nato straps with smart casual attire and I think it's fine.
