    Recycled sentimental Leather anyone?

Anyone else make straps out of old sentimental leather? These were made for someone whose father died years ago and he saved his shoes.

I wear my dad's old watches sometimes, but I'm not sure I'd want to wear his old shoes on my wrist. They do look nice though.

I kind of dig this idea actually. Not that I'd go make my own, retired dress shoes into a strap. But if there was a reason; a nostalgic memory I'd want to keep, definitely.

Sometimes I think about sending my leather belt (which I’ve owned for well over a decade) to a strap maker to make gorgeous watch straps. But then again, what belt would I use? Nothing to do with this thread, I just wanted to share, so there...

    Greg,
An excellent idea and a way to remember Dad. As for the naysayers, you're over reacting for some good quality watch straps.
