rivets on strap of non-pilot watch?

What is your opinion on the use of rivets on watch straps of non-pilot watches? It's so strongly correlated with pilot watches that to me they seem to look somewhat out of place on non-pilot watches. I think I saw a gator strap with rivets on a Panerai online one time which actually looked pretty good. In what cases do you think rivets on watch straps look good when not on pilot watches or do you think this should be reserved for pilot watches only?

To each his own. Rivets or not depends on what you like as it is your watch.
