Squeaky Seiko bracelet - what to do?

I just got a SKA739 and I do like it, but I noticed something that I've never heard on any of my other metal banded Seikos. If I move my wrist quickly, in a sort of rotating motion, I hear squeaks from the bracelet. Almost like the links are squeaking rotating against the pins. It's kind of taken me by surprise. I'm not sure if this is something I can do anything about, but I'm not sure how I feel about keeping a watch that squeaks when I move my arm around.

Hi mate, easy to fix, get some non sticky oil thats thin and put a drop on every contact point where the collar and pins are, around the clasp, anywhere where theres metal on metal, work it in, and give it a good dry with some tissues and your good to go, it will make a big difference.
Ive used sewing machine oil, clear and thin fishing reel oil, etc, just nothing vegetable based that will stick and pick up dirt,
    cheers

This reminds me of that old VW commercial, guys driving his VW with his woman, and all he hears is a squeak! it drives him mental he stops every few feet to try and figure out where the squeak is coming from, only to realize it's his Woman passengers earing that is squeaking.

COBIA's suggestion ^^^YEP probably would be a good thing to try.

    I remember that commercial!

Never had to oil a band before. Guess I can give it a try.

Could try submerging the whole bracelet in mineral oil too, jiggle it about a bit to get rid of possible microscopic debris that is inside where it is squeaking OR an ultrasonic jewellery cleaner for a few minutes Bracelet not the watch, most jewellers have them.

I haven't watched TV in over 5 years and the crazy sh*t is I remember a commercial lol.

Mix powdered graphite with a some rubbing alcohol and spray on. Wipe off any access.

When the alcohol evaporates the graphite will remain to act as a lubricant.

Soak the bracelet in baby oil, let it sit for a couple hours and it will be soft as a baby's bottom.

Clean with soap, dry and it will be good to go. And the baby oil will not have any adverse effect on your skin.

a watch is meant to be worn

I encountered the squeak before too. And honestly, just wear it. I don't think any squeak survived a month of wear. The bracelet naturally breaks in.

Re: Squeaky Seiko bracelet - what to do?

Oil it, baby oil, as someone already mentioned before. I had a similar problem with a bracelet. I just put one or two drops of baby oil in every link or so and wipe the bracelet off with a lint-free fabric (same type of fabric you use to clean your eyeglasses); move/rattle the links several times and add some more oil drops until the squeak goes almost completely way. It took me five minutes, maybe 10, to get rid off the squeaking. Any minor squeaking after oiling it will go away overnight (after all metal components have sucked the oil in). Any oil residue left in the links, if it's good for the babies, well..., you guess what it's going to do ya. LOL Mine hasn't squeaked again in over two years now, but if it does it again, we know what to do now. ;)
