    Strap advice for salmon dial

    Hello everyone,

I've purchased a salmon dial Hamilton ventura but this being an unusual watch shape as well as an unusual dial color I'm wondering what kind of strap I can match it with so I need your help !

The lug to lug is 17mm so I'll be looking at 18mm straps since it's so uncommon to find 17mm straps

I was thinking of matching with a burgundy with gray line nato but I'd love some ideas, can be nato, leather anything you think would look good.

    Thank you

I would look at a brown croc strap, or any brown textured strap really.

Hirsch Performance straps(Black "Paul"maybe) are 18mm & would squeeze down to 17mm nicely.IMO this is a watch you don't want a strap competing with.Keep it black & let the dial & case rule the eyes.
Too bad you are so far away,I have 3 really nice Nato straps in 18mm sitting in a box I would throw your way just for kharma points..

Hey, it's the thought that counts and I really appreciate it nonetheless !

    Thank you for the suggestions

I'll wait upon receiving tthe watch before settling on a or more straps (I have another 18mm so would still likely get used!). I'm also thinking a light moss green suede strap (closer to grey than deep green)

I'll keep thinking and see in situ what options would look cool

Any dark brown leather strap would look fine IMO

    Check eBay for vintage/NOS 11/16" (17.4mm) straps.

Look at the overhang of the case lugs over the strap, I am thinking you cant go thick, the Hirsch Performance as suggested I believe would be too thick.

I'd go with a mid gray leather with a salmon (probably more orange) stitching to keep the theme and emphasize the dial. A random pic from the net to get the feeling.

Re: Strap advice for salmon dial

I went through the same thing when I bought my Omega Jumping Hour with a salmon dial. Here it is on the original dark brown (almost black) alligator strap and a few crocodile straps from Hircsh Straps (HS Watch Obsession) in Burgundy, Brown (my dog Rogue is in the photo), and Blue. These are all 19mm and I'm pretty confident you could find these in 17mm from the website. The colors will vary depending on the lighting, much like that dial color. Also, the burgundy and the blue are subtle until they see some bright light, i.e. strong sun, then they become very obviously red/pink and electric blue in color. Link to Hirsch https://www.hirschstraps.com. No, I am not affiliated. However, if they would like to send me some 18mm versions of these straps, I would put them to good use.
