Strap Ideas For Omega Aqua Terra ‘Skyfall’

    Hi All,

Recently reacquired one of these. Looking for standard and bespoke options. I like the idea of suede, cordura, sailcloth perhaps? Lug width is 19mm.

Thanks! The cordura band shown is by Jean Rousseu (JR), they do several bands for Omega including the famous black cordura “Snoopy” band.

The Good Planet (GP) AT model above does comes from factory with a similar band made by JR for Omega (don’t recall Omega reference number); say similar as the one comes from factory on the GP is 19/16 MM while mine is 20/18 MM (special ordered to JR for my gone Bond GMT which was 20 MM lug size, paid about $180)

Solesman, as you were so kind as to give me the nudge to purchase one of these for myself, I'm going to 'hook you up' as we say in the states.

DM me for links to anything you see and I'll dig up the vendor.

My first after-bracelet strap was a 19mm DeVille Havana red leather with alligator grain strap (sub $50 USD) and a polished 18mm aftermarket Omega deployment clasp (also sub $50 USD). A great look for a suit or a business casual kind of day:

At this point, I decided to make it a little more interesting and was able to find a dark leather NATO strap that was a hair under 20mm, meaning it fit the 19mm lug widths nicely (around $30 USD). On NATO straps, I prefer to use curved lug pins so the straps fit better. First, on my hand:

And next to a favorite knife. This pic brings out the unique color on this dial - in some light, it's so dark it looks black:

And here's where things get interesting. I was trying next to create a rubber strap look like you'll see available for the 41.5mm versions of the Aqua Terra with 20mm lugs - and there are plenty of OEM rubber straps and aftermarket in 20mm width but not in 19mm. Try as I might, I couldn't find a 19mm version and the 20mm versions simply wouldn't fit on the pin holes in the lugs no matter how hard I tried. To create something similar, I went with a 19mm Barton Elite silicone strap (I love those straps because of the release lever on the inside of each strap, allowing them to be changed out without a pin removal tool), and they run around $15 USD on Amazon:

Of course, the OEM AT rubber straps come with a deployant clasp, and I found an aftermarket Omega 18mm deployant accepted the Barton strap ends nicely (again, sub $50 USD for the aftermarket deployant), and will do well to add a touch of class to what otherwise would be a very casual/outdoors look to the strap:

And a shot of the deployant side:

    Hope that inspires, sir!

Here's a JPM ( Jean Paul Menicucci ) Vintage Suede strap in Blue, this could give your watch a nice look, here it is on the Speedy, think it would match your AT better.

That’s a lot of nice ideas. Paralysed by choice now! The blue rubber looks great!
