Hi everyone, I'm new here. I bought the Jaragar Chinese mechanical number pictured below for like 30 bucks. The rotors a bit loud and it has a cheesy, fake tachymeter dial on the inside edge of the bezel; but the finish is WAY beyond what I'd expect for the cost, so I'm pretty darn happy with it. The only issue I have is that it came with this terrible rubber strap. It makes what is otherwise a nice-enough watch look as cheap as it actually was. I would like to put a leather band on it, but it has this pretty atypical tab-and-bar sort of attachment to the band like you see on the crown-gaurd of some Anonimos. My questions are this:
1.) Is there a specific term for this style of lug, or tab, or . . . whatever?
2.) What are the odds of me finding a strap that I can just throw on there from a shop?
3.) I'm not trying to spend the money to have a custom strap made for a $30 beater watch, so I am considering buying a strap for it and just using an x-acto knife and carefully removing the middle section where the bar would run through the case from the strap. Aside from the potential of me botching the job and wasting a few bucks, are there any obvious reasons I should give that a go?
