Strap options for Chinese mechanical with unusual (to me) lugs?

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I bought the Jaragar Chinese mechanical number pictured below for like 30 bucks. The rotors a bit loud and it has a cheesy, fake tachymeter dial on the inside edge of the bezel; but the finish is WAY beyond what I'd expect for the cost, so I'm pretty darn happy with it. The only issue I have is that it came with this terrible rubber strap. It makes what is otherwise a nice-enough watch look as cheap as it actually was. I would like to put a leather band on it, but it has this pretty atypical tab-and-bar sort of attachment to the band like you see on the crown-gaurd of some Anonimos. My questions are this:

1.) Is there a specific term for this style of lug, or tab, or . . . whatever?
2.) What are the odds of me finding a strap that I can just throw on there from a shop?
3.) I'm not trying to spend the money to have a custom strap made for a $30 beater watch, so I am considering buying a strap for it and just using an x-acto knife and carefully removing the middle section where the bar would run through the case from the strap. Aside from the potential of me botching the job and wasting a few bucks, are there any obvious reasons I should give that a go?

Yeah, I think you're pretty much gonna be stuck with the stock strap. Only thing I have ever seen close is a Locman Montecristo and I don't think its the same. So...

    1) Not that I am aware of ... maybe just "strange"
    2) ... from a shop? - 0%
    3) Not without it looking home made unless you are REALLY crafty I'm afraid

Thanks for the quick response, it's appreciated.

I am hesitant to call myself really crafty, but I'm pretty good with my hands and no stranger to having to make precision measurements and manipulate materials on the .001'' scale from building engines. I don't have too much experience working with leather or creating things with any materials softer than wood really. I guess I'll have to read some leather working info and make a little project out of it. Worst case scenario I end up with a crappy strap and a new experience. I'll post a pic of however it turns out here.

Have you tried putting a nato strap on it or is it no good?

I think using a nato strap encounters the same challenges as using a leather strap. Basically, the bar that the strap goes around is supported by a tab at the center as opposed to two posts at the outside. Is there something I'm missing? I think I could pass a nato strap over the part of the case that the aforementioned tab protrudes from, but it would look really bad.
