Been quite busy with the day job, family and new projects. BUT I managed to squeeze in a really cool strap for a really cool client.
He contacted me asking of I had ever worked on a Vintage Baseball Glove Strap. I told him not yet. Next thing I knew I had a Big Ol' leather baseball glove in my mailbox!! I guess he wanted me to try one out.
Here was the results....
First we started off with a very plump vintage glove. Might be from the 40's.
It was sort of bitter sweet to tear into this well preserved piece. But the venture of making a cool strap was overwhelming.
Figuring out where to make the cuts and how to stitch it together nicely was a challenge for me.
After a few practice tries to emulate baseball stitching I applied it to the tail strap.
A shot of the big keeper. it reads "Ball Hawk"....or was it "Hawk Ball"...
and that's the FIRST strap.
This glove was loaded with many stampings. The second strap I made was similar but with the addition of a special embellishment from the glove.
So there you have it folks. My first baseball glove strappie. I have another one in the works at the moment and will post is as soon as I'm done. Stay tune!!
