What is the average life of a watch strap

Assuming it is a decent quality name brand leather (with leather lining) on a deployant. Let's also assume:

    Removed at night
Cleaned and protected regularly using quality products
Doesn't get wet - with the occasional splash when washing hands or getting caught in the rain.

    Let's assume the same with:

A cheap alligator (Hirsch or Hadley ~$35)
    A mid price alligator ~$100 to $150
    Expensive aftermarket +$200
OE strap - Omega, Breitling, Rolex etc.

I've had good luck in the past with RIOS/Sirtoli in the mid price ranges.

Assuming we we are talking looks like is needs to be replaced because it 60% or less of new condition.

A cheap alligator (Hirsch or Hadley ~$35)

At this price we are talking embossed. These are weak lining.

    65-75 wears

    A mid price alligator ~$100 to $150

Varies greatly by vendor. On the low end 65-75 wears on the higher end 200 wears.

    Expensive aftermarket +$200

    Same as mids.

OE strap - Omega, Breitling, Rolex etc.

omega 200 wears. Breitling deployment: I haven't had mine for long but the deployment beats up the calf pretty bad. I would think its gonna be pretty low. The Croco doesn't seem to take as much of beating but does get all bent up.

    Rolex:

I have no Rolex OEMs at this point.

Does anyone actually put anything on leather straps like conditioner. I don't put anything on mine.

I used to apply Saphir cordovan cream to mine but it changes the surface texture to slightly rubbery and looks less shiny (more matte).

I tend to put LeatherMaster protectant cream on the lining so that it absorbs less sweat. I might give the outside a quick swipe whenever I do my car seats.

    ^^^

Going to be tough to top that.....

I use Bick 4 when needed, but have to be careful with leathers and exotics and less is more.
