I can not judge your personal taste and wish, but an expanding metal bracelet is totally wrong for that watch.

    Totally, 100% !

Simple black or brown calf skin strap. Thin.

I am a firm believer in 'to each his own', but I have to agree with Janne on this one - you're not going to want an expanding bracelet for this watch. Not only are those lugs fixed, but they are curved - I can't imagine that an open-ended expanding bracelet exists (I've certainly never seen one anyway), and then to find one that is curved on the end? If you do, but a lotto ticket immediately.

I know Bruce Willis (a.k.a. Butch Coolidge) had an expanding bracelet on his Dad's military watch, which appears to have fixed lugs, but that's Hollywood for you.

Your best best is to either:

    A) buy an expanding bracelet and do an experiment to see if you can tool it to the lugs. Not reccomended, but if you attempt and something will end up ruined, please make sure it's the bracelet and not the watch.

    B) move on and find a better option. I don't like the idea of NATO straps on anything, including leather NATO, but any compitent strapmaker could build something more traditional onto that handsome relic.

Maybe something like on of these?

PM me if you want more info.
You can watch something happen, you can make something happen, or you can stand there wondering what the hell just happened.

Kiefer-Cadman made some gold-filled and RGP back in the 1960s that had curved ends.
The ends were designed to be used with spring bars or fixed-lugs.
