    1954 rolex explorer 6150

The watch actually belongs to my father in law and he was given it by his mother for his 21st birthday. It hasn't worked for many years and I don't think he ever had it serviced. Anyway, after some research I took this watch to Roy Hancocks in Birmingham UK for repair and service so we could surprise the old man.

After some weeks I was advised that the parts are no longer available as the movement is 'obsolete' and after speaking to their master watchmaker it was decided that the part required could not be manufactured. I collected the watch today and am so disappointed. I just find it so hard to believe that the watch cannot be repaired as it is a rolex after all.

I am am posting really as I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction for some help. The watch sets but will not run. However, when pressure is applied to the stem to turn the hands clockwise, without actually turning the hands, the watch appears to run.

I know now a few people on here have this movement and so please please can you recommend someone to go to. I live in Hereford so know i will most likely have to courier the watch.

Honestly, I believe this is a job for Bob Ridley. He is one of the very best at manufacture of non-available parts. Don't trust that watch to just anyone. it is quite valuable if everything checks out.
    Best Regards,
    Jason
