You cannot compare Bose's to Rolex. Bose's are far from it. From many decades ago, Rolex had the forsight to make in house including movement for their watches and COSC it while many others are busy cost cutting. Earning a short term profit during that era but damage the long term reputation.

With demand rising and Rolex limit their supply. Rolex are the most desirable luxury watches in the market. That is the big difference between a private owned companies and public listed. Foolish public shareholder who know nuts about building a long term brand will see only short term profit who demand brand like omega to chunk out as much seamaster and PO to make a quick profit for that year but such short spree sales will soon dry up and ruin everything in the later stages.

Rolex without need to answer to any Tom dick Harry make decision by wise leader at top who has great vision how to make a great luxury watch brand. They are playing a long term game and they are winning.

Simple. Try on the watch, “accidentally” scratch it. See if they won’t let you buy it then. They’ll probably insist you do.

You’re going to end up collecting scratches anyway... Why not collect your first while beating Rolex at their own ridiculous game?

During the economic “down turn” at the AD in West Palm these were selling for under msrp. This will return one day.

Singaporean(in fact along with consumers from other Asian cities)... Rolex followers are known to be carrot/radish-heads well deserved to be shaved by ROLEX.

The term "KING" is well describe to ROLEXES floating around the Asian market.
It's a ROLEX, it's flippable compare to other bigger and older marques in the horology world.
So what if you have a Patek, so what if you have a Blancpain, so what if you have a Breguet as well as other niche and exquisite marques? In the flipping world, they cannot get more attention than ROLEX!

Love the marketing strategy---Here are the watches, Oh but you can't buy them at any price. Brilliant.

Spiffs we used to receive for taking in watches in trade,
    Patek - 300 USD
Panerai, Rolex and Cartier - 50 USD.
So much for the "King", never got a Patek in trade, but got quite a few Rolex in trade for Panerai at the time.
Even took in an 'upside down' trade, a beat-up SG Sub for a Swiss Army auto.

What's your point? How does this relate in any way to the Rolex situation in 2019??

Re: ADs in Singapore are doing this now.

That's just Rolex policy and nothing to do with the AD, isn't it? Pretty sure the AD would love to make the sale.

I don't get why some of us would be annoyed. As a matter of fact, it's no one's prerogative to get mad at Rolex for "trolling". Rolex is entitled to produce, market, and sell their wares in any mode of conduct they prefer. To their detriment some might say? The guys at Rolex probably don't share this same sentiment, and they probably don't care who thinks/speculates what anyway.

It's somewhat a reflection of how desperate we are for the watches. Like Sporty says, go grey and beat Rolex at their "game". For that matter, Rolex has greater things going on, and is absolutely not interested in playing "games".

Patek is still 'top dog' and longer than you have been around.
