    Airking & Explorer l

Anyone own both an Airking 116900 and an Explorer l 214270
Do you feel there is a big enough distinction between the two?

I don't own both, but I do think they are different enough.

The Explorer is a very plain watch. The Airking is a bit out there with the mix of minutes and hours and different colors on the dial. Probably the same reason the Airking gets a bit of hate while the Explorer is the more loved of the two.

Yeah I do like the quirkinesses of the Airking. I own the Explorer, thinking about adding the Airking. I think the Airking is in the Milgauss case right?

This is great! There have been a few of these this past month and it looks like the Air King is finally getting a bit of popularity that I think it deserves. OP - check out these two threads:

Don't ask me why my thread was closed because I don't know why.

PF wrote a fantastic piece above and last but not least check out The ONLY Bloodhound Air King Thread:

And yes, the two watches are completely different. My preference is the Air King and I've owned both. Here are my favourite Air King images - I know some of you have seen these but they are so beautiful:

The threads above explain everything but in general and in my opinion I prefer the heft of the Air King cage. It wears bigger than the Explorer even if it's only 1mm larger but that's because it houses the same anti-magnetic Faraday cage that the Milgaus has. Essentially for me, it has more curvature and sits better on my 6.5" wrist because of the contours. The Explorer to me is flatter.

I appreciate that the AK has a bit more heft, but otherwise they are very similar sharing many style elements such as hand set, 369, case & bezel appearance and bracelet. On this basis they are too similar for my liking...

I think your thread got locked because of a few unwelcome interlopers bickering away towards the end.

You might convince the OP to buy the Air King and eventually sell the Explorer.

    Re: Airking & Explorer l

Definitely a big distinction. Air king is larger, heavier, thicker, and eclectic due to the green, yellow, 369, etc. Majority will side with the ExpI as should be and there are some fanatics of the air king. The Explorer is the way to go if you are deciding on just 1 watch due to the additional safety lock and amazing lume. I think the Air King is reserved to spice things up if you have other sports watches.

If they update the Air King and removed the 369 and lumed the numbers, it would easily come up to par if not outshine the ExpI imo

It already outshines the boring Explorer 1 in my opinion. Removing anything from the dial whether it’s the 369 or the green and yellow Rolex logo, or adding zero to the five, or making it boringly symmetrical will just transform it to just a regular looking watch. Bloodhound Air King has a special dial that tells a story, and purpose behind it. You also get an antimagnetic case as premium. Wish it had the GV glass like the Milgauss too. Imagine the look.
