Any Non-Rolex movement that sets like the GMT 3185 3186?

I don't know the terminology so can't search for it. The way the hour hand is set on the Rolex GMT - quick set on the main hour hand, GMT hand moves with minute hand, is there any other brand or maker that sets this way? AFAIK the common ETA and Sellita GMT movements do not.

Tudor GMT, Grand Seikos and Omega GMTs all work like the Rolex GMT movement.

85xx, 84xx, 88xx omega movements have an independent hour hand without the GMT function if that's what you're looking for as well.

Panerai has this fonction too on some of their non-GMT movements like P.9010, it allows to easily adjust the watch to a different time zone, the hours hand is also connected to the date fonction

Also add Alpina and some newer SwatchCo brands (Certina comes to mind). IWC also makes one. And Breitling's GMT chrono (calibre b04) has a quickset 12h hand.

Thanks for the suggestions. Are there any movements that are put into the microbrands (sub $2000)?

I'm not 100% sure but your chances may be very slim as even the GMT movements that micro brands use are ETA based. The oris propilot worldtimer is similar except you use the bezel to adjust the independent hour hand. Pretty neat and novel complication if you ask me

The 3185 or 3285 is sometimes called a “traveler” GMT, as the local hour hand moves without stopping the watch (and thus easy to use by someone traveling to different time zones to maintain local and home time)

The ETA 2893 is sometimes called a “caller” GMT, as it requires the movement to be stopped (and thus fine for someone who “calls” a specific time zone, more so than traveling).

I hope this helps, as you try to search using these terms.

Best of luck! A GMT hand is one of the most useful complications out there.

There was a long thread in f2 last year on traveler GMTs
