    Explorer 114270 Minute hand question

Hi everyone. I just purchased a pre owned Explorer 1 ref 114270 Z series and there is something bothering me about the minute hand. It appears to be slightly bent near the stem. I hope you can make it out from the picture, I lined it up beneath the second hand for comparison. Is this normal? Can anyone else take a similar picture of theirs so I can compare? Thanks!

Hard to tell anything from that picture.

Definitely not normal. While I don't own a 114270 I've never seen a Rolex or Tudor hand bend like that, and I have 11.

Likely a previous servicing went South.

Thanks for your response. I also have a DJ and Sub and they are both completely straight so I think you’re right. It didn’t look right straight away and has been bothering me but looking online at Explorer pics I couldn’t find any pictures to confirm either way so thought it would be useful to hear from someone that has one.

My best guess: It was installed by a amateur and bent as a “fix” because it was crossing the minute hand.

It still can be saved by a good watch maker. Who knows how to straighten hands.

Thanks for your opinion. Of course if it was as a fix, then straightening it could bring another problem to light. I think I’m going to return as it could also cause future problems.
