GMT Master II 16760 Fat Lady Advice?

Is one Fat Lady more desirable than other Fat Ladies? Or does it come down to condition? I’m interested in a Coke bezel. Suggestions? Thanks.

Fat Ladies were only ever sold as Coke bezels as far I know.

The 16760 was only offered with the red/black insert.

This is a good site for information.

Anyone know why the case was thickened for that short period?

The Hodinkee Rolex GMT-Master YouTube video does confirm 16760 was only offered in Coke. You’re correct. They also state the case was thicker to allow for the independent adjustable GMT hand.

It was the new movement that required a slightly larger case. Later, they figured out how to thin out the GMT component and get the watch back into "shape."

Not at all, the Rolex Master-GMT II ref 16760 is nicknamed, "Fat Lady" because the case was slightly thicker than the first generation Master-GMT. Thus, It was given the nickname "Fat Lady" because of its curves. Also known as the "Sophia Loren" known for her famous curves. See picture above.
