I bet you have seen a cheesy one though. Rolex have made some of the cheesiest watches in history.

And whilst we are there Rolex tend to be dated with their designs. Rolex rarely have a watch that is larger than 41mm despite the overall trend towards larger watches. I think it's because Rolex are risk averse and do not want to alienate the crowd that prefers or fits with smaller watches.

They're both great. Two different philosophies though.

I can name every Submariner reference ever made in one breath but I doubt even Omega could list every Seamaster reference. All those 34mm and 36mm stainless and gold capped models from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

And that watch was in turn saved by a Bulova ;)

Being about to count to 14 seconds without breaking down is quite a leap to "saving Apollo 13", but as you can see in f2 the force is strong with this one...

    Opinions on Omega

Owners... No idea and not sure it matters.
Watches are generally too thick for my liking with some over 17mm

Co-axial movement i'd like to have one but I suspect it to be the cause of thickness so I guess I never will.

To me Omega are on the same level as Rolex, when i compare my Omega's to Rolex's and the the one Rolex i own, i find it very difficult to say one is better than the other . What would i choose out of Omega and Rolex's would it would be a Speedy Pro and that keeps me happy.

The Omega 8500 is about the same thickness, if not thinner, than the Rolex 3135. I believe the 8900 is roughly the same as the 8500. Omega's thickness has nothing to do with the movement.

But as any competent watchmaker who's worked on both will tell you, they aren't. There are inherent constraints in how much one can tell about a watch's quality from the limited perspective of a consumer.

The Speedmaster is one of the most timeless watch designs of all time.

That's good to know. Perhaps one day I might get an Omega with co-axial movement.

I'm a bond fan so obviously have a soft spot for Omega. I don't see them as being as good as Rolex - but then again a Planet Ocean is about 30% cheaper than a sub.
I don't like some of the older omegas, where the older rolexs are still holding their own and don't look out dated.
I'll likely own some of the bond editions at some point!
