I love a lot about the new POs aside from the thickness. If they were thinner, I really think they would have a winner on their hands. Not to mention they change styles too quickly for me. I feel it makes their older models appear outdated and then unwanted.

This part makes me think of Omega as an upmarket TAG rather than a downmarket Rolex.

What a deep thought. And what exactly has changed in PO for the last 10 years, except for the movement and minor details of the design?

Currently own a 3590.50 Speedy and a 2201.50 PO. The Speedy isn't going anywhere, but I feel the PO, while a fantastically well-built watch, isn't for me anymore, so am thinking of replacing with a 36mm Railmaster or Explorer I for something a bit more restrained.

However even Fleming, the original author and creator of the literary character in question, mentioned "heavy" - and he even went so far as to mention not only the brand but also the model. and he was not paid to do so.

He wrote it because when he was sitting at his typewriter banging the story out, a Rolex Oyster Perpetual was on his wrist. It was such attention to detail that made the books popular.

Personally one of the reasons I like Rolex is the simple fact that they didn't commercialise on this. There isn't a "Bond Submariner" or a "Fleming Explorer".

    That's class.

    Unlike other manufacturers.
Using a watch like that will make it a Knuckle Buster. Try it with any watch, and you will get busted knuckles.

Maybe Rolex didn't commercialise it, I have my doubt though, but that Bond Submariner and Fleming Explorer are repeated over and over again on the internet. The perpetual myths, I guess.

Read any thread on Submariner vs this or Submariner vs that, and you will find post(s) about the Submariner being the real James Bond watch. Heck, that's the reason I read four James Bond books, I was curious about it. Good thing the Kindle version I bought is only 0.99 per book .

Fleming Explorer... this is interesting cause some believe that Explorer is the real Bond watch, because Ian Fleming wore Explorer when he wrote James Bond, so when he wrote "Rolex" in the book, it had to be the Explorer that he meant.

I'm still undecided on which Bond watch I'm going to buy: Seamaster 300 Master Coaxial (the Spectre is hard to find), the Submariner or the Explorer
BTW if you mention Explorer, soon there will be post about it being the First Watch Worn On the Top of the World

The pair of women staked out their prey at trendy downtown nightspots last month before joining them at the Sofitel and Dream hotels where the men became unconscious and lost their bling, according to police.

One 38-year-old male had his $20,000 Audemars Piguet timepiece stolen after he met a lady at the Top of the Standard Lounge on August 11. Another man, 37, said he met a woman at STK downtown on August 13 and she ended up lifting his $18,000 Rolex when they returned to the Sofitel Hotel. A third victim, 56, lost his $30,000 Breguet watch and an $8,000 Omega watch from a woman he met at a restaurant in the Sofitel on August 16.
    $8,000 Omega. LOL.

Goats. And also rolexes and omegas. Some talk about Bond and Fleming too.
    But it’s mostly about goats!

As a merchant mariner I seriously think this thread will never reach its full potential unless we introduce the subject of dugong-mermaids and their watches into this mix

I took her home. I thought "what could go wrong"....

    Next morning she was gone.

    So was my Rolex.

    So was my back lawn.
