For those of you that have the Black Bay 58, did you order it with the bracelet, leather strap or nato? And why?
I'm super torn.. Common sense tells me to go bracelet for value sake, but I know I'll never wear it and immediately put it on a leather, nato or MN. Why spend the money on something I'll never use, and don't plan to sell. So I figured I would save a few dollars and go the strap route, and I imagine I might be able to get one sooner..
I've also heard that there may have been a few issues with the bracelet?
We all think "this will be the watch to keep!" but it rarely is in reality. Therefore, get the bracelet to help you re-sell it if you do decide to change your mind. Side note, I hate the damn riveted bracelets. Tudor! Oris! Stop the rivets! Carry on...
I bought mine fabric strap first. And just got the bracelet. I love both! I got the bracelet due to me getting it now Incase the price goes up. It doesn't have the best micro adjust in the game and Tudor doesn't sell half links. [emoji20]. But it's a sturdy bracelet and clasp. The rivets don't bother me. I thought they would. I think you can't go wrong with either option with the fabric or the bracelet. The leather, IMHO, is not the best deal it's the same price as that amazing fabric strap. The leather is decent, But not the best.
As a rule of thumb, I'd always buy with the bracelet. I've never bought a watch I thought I'd sell at buying time. I like the bracelet and have never heard of any issues with it other than people not liking the rivets. Many others do.
The bracelet version does seem to be the hardest to get. I got mine on the bracelet and ordered the strap at pick up. It took several months to arrive but I got the watch at the time it was first publicly released. Later I got a mint OEM leather and deployant via these forums. After more than a year it's just as much a keeper and sits with my Speedy and Explorer as never sell.
It would most likely be easier to get on fabric or leather. If you order the bracelet afterwards, you're out about $500, but I haven't heard of anybody even getting an estimate on bracelet models being delivered recently. The bracelet is fine, but it was a tough $850 pill to swallow IMO. I have seen some threads mention strapcode making a BB58 specific bracelet available later this year.
Why not just get it with leather if you're going to put it on leather? It's pretty nice.
That being said, I wanted it with leather, but the AD called with one with the bracelet and I took it. I never ever thought about putting it on leather after I got it with bracelet.
Get the bracelet unless you're 100% sure you're going to keep the watch. I bought the BB58 on bracelet because I prefer bracelets to other types of bands, I really like the bracelet, yeah I would prefer it didn't have the rivets but they're small enough they really don't bother me and the bracelet is great quality and very comfortable.
The bracelet is comfortable & the clasp is high-quality, but are you able to get a good fit? I might just be unlucky but I feel like I'm right in between a whole link & the micro-adjustments for a perfect fit.
Same as you... Never wear bracelets and so i bought mine on the nato. If I ever need to sell it I'll price it so that a dude that wants one with a bracelet will still buy mine and get the bracelet somewhere else lol
Maybe so but there is a 325$ difference between buying on the bracelet vs leather/fabric. 500$ cheaper than getting it after.
Like the OP, never a bracelet kind of person. Even my Explorer I, I prefer to wear on a strap or NATO over the very nice bracelet. I know maybe I'm crazy!
As for me, I'm hopeful the yet to come Strapcode will be worth getting. My BB58 purchase was tied to a very special moment so unlikely I'll ever part with it. Plus I really love. In any case, if it happens, I'll just have to price it accordingly.
If theres any thought about getting the bracelet. Buy it on bracelet. I have heard they are crazy money. I also hear the BB58 is hard to actually buy on bracelet! wonder why? Sounds like Tudor are taking some tips from their Rolex friends across the hall.
I bought on bracelet, then got the Tudor strap and clasp afterwards. I've now swapped back to the bracelet - to be honest, the official strap annoyed me as it does up the wrong way.
If I were you I'd get the bracelet version. Then get yourself a nice after-market strap or NATO for it. If you then decide you're going to keep the watch 100% and never wear the bracelet, you can sell it for a profit. But this way, you get to keep your options open.

Agreed about the strap. I bought on bracelet Then got the strap via the forum sales. I just turn the deployant around. The only difference is the Tudor branding. It's not a big deal. Funnily enough though I posted a few pics on insta and I got a few comments about the strap being the wrong way. That was on a non-oem strap too. [emoji12]
Getting the bracelet is not just for value sake, its for your own sake lol.
Sourcing a bracelet is harder should you decide you want one somewhere down the line, and it will cost you much more as a separate item compared to buying one with it in the first place.
Secondly there is an abundance of strapmakers from fabric to whatever exotic hide you wish to put on it, and most likely they will be cheaper than buying one from Tudor, and most of the time, looks better too.
Getting an after market bracelet is possible of course, but the fit and finish would be different.
have to agree with the majority here pushing for the bracelet, if the op still doesn’t like it after trying it on, maybe look to purchasing crown and buckles’ chevron nato strap for a lot less than what tudor charges for their nato straps.
After finding a few more pennies, I'll be skipping down to my AD this weekend to put my name on the list for a bracelet version! I'll let you all know how it works out in 3-6 months!
So I went to my local AD today to my name on the list, very nice group! But compared to the last time I was there the list has grown from 4, to I'm 9 or 10th.. I'll definitely be looking at other AD's, or strap options..
I went on "the list" at 2 ADs. Told I was 4th at Fraser Hart (as I'd put down a deposit) and 17th at Ernest Jones! In the end, though, it was Ernest Jones who came through, after about 3 months. Seems a lot of people on the list in front of me dropped out or failed to respond to the call in time (you have 24 hours to get back to them). I was still 3rd on the list at Fraser Hart at that point, moving only up one space. They told me their supply had been poor, but I'm not totally convinced they managed the list fairly.
I wear bracelets on all my watches, and that’s no different for my BB58. No issues with it and the riveted bracelet fits the vintage aesthetic. I find it very comfortable and have no issues with it so far. It’s harder to get than the straps.

****e... That could be my top, my watch, my arm. First thought, I don't remember that photo.
