I had a Rolex Day Date that had a patina dial. I went to the AD and they suggested that I replace a dial so I am not 100% sure.

I think you just began your journey to a vintage watch. Sure, a dial replacement would help, and I would buy one in your shoes assuming it was an accurate replacement (same color, same lume, lume matches the hands, I have enough money). If so, you are extending the life of your watch in mint condition by how many years? You might not get a chance in the future.
They call it a recession when you are out of a job. It becomes a depression when I'm out of a job.

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it (except on the internet).

Looks like water damage. I’d suggest having it opened up and inspected quickly. The movement will turn into a heap of rust if not properly maintained.

I’ve been told that dials cannot be cleaned. Not sure how true that is. I once had a watchmaker leave a fingerprint on my dial. When I took it to a different watchmaker, I was told there was nothing he could do other than replace the dial. Off to Rolex it went for another service and dial . Needless to say, I’ll never use the original watchmaker again nor recommend them to anyone. Lesson learned.

Yours is a sigma dial, so think very hard before replacing it.

But definitely get it serviced immediately due to the water infiltration other posters have mentioned.

Ok guys, this is a technique to remove the oxidation from stamps I learned long time ago from a stamp collector, and I tried it with success on old dials, it worked perfectly. You pour Milton sterilizing fluid in a small glass bowl and you dip your dial face up, you keep observing it, and when the oxydation vanishes, you remove it and wash it thoroughly with water. I never tried it on a Rolex dial, but it's worth trying.

Wait until it is completely covered with yellow polka dots, give the effect a cool name and sell it for millions.
