    Rolex with full Arabics?

Hi- I’m just curious why Rolex no longer makes watches with full Arabics?

I guess the new air king would technically be full Arabics but I mean more in terms of consecutive numbers

Thanks, I stand corrected! I thought date just were just Roman or indices.

Okay this may be difficult to explain. These are Indian numbers used by Arabs for a long time, and are called Arabic numbers in Arab countries. The Arabic numbers used in The Western countries are called English numbers in Arab Countries. Now most Arab countries especially in the Arabian Gulf officially use the Arabic numbers instead of Indian numbers they call Arabic numbers. Does anyone know what numbers are used in India.

Can somebody draw a flow chart or diagram explaining all that?

You are absolutely right, Indian mathematicians invented this numbering system (and the zero) between the 1st and 4th century and it was adopted by the Arabic mathematicians in the 9th century.

Numbers used in India is tricky as you have so many different major languages (22 are official, many more are spoken, Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu) but the official ones are Hindi and English.

    In Hindi the numbers are:

Would make an interesting dial. I do have some old HMT watches (Hindustan Machine Tools) but none have numbers.

I don’t think there will be space on any size watch dial for Devanagari numbers. So the Indians invented the numbering system, and the Arabs invented the actual writing of the numbers.
