I recently bit on a new 39mm OP with the white dial after hearing so many good things about it and stumbling upon one at Tourneau. It seems like a great value and often overlooked, though somewhat difficult to locate these in the 39mm overall. I'm really enjoying the versatility and had initially thought I wanted the black dial, but after seeing the white dial in person realized it's a fairly unique offering for Rolex with a lot of depth. Another watch buddy called it the "Polar Perpetual." Are others seeing these and other color 39mm readily available at ADs?
Had the black but prefer the white for everyday. The white dial appears bigger and the color varies depending on the light. They are not at every AD for sure but can be found. Enjoy.
I gravitate towards black dials but realized I was being dull by not having more variety. The off-white pearl color contrasting the bright white markers is very special, but it's definitely something that's understated and I'm more likely to appreciate than others. Can understand some might find this dull but I'm a purist.
Definitely a sleeper in the current lineup, but gaining traction. Tapered lugs, rounded bezel, somewhere dynamic dial. Add an easylink.
For me it ultimately lost out to my GS snowflake bc although the bracelet and arguably total package is superior, the handset and dial just left me uninspired.
IMO by far the best of the OP39 lineup are the black dial and white dial versions. Not too long ago I bought a black dial OP39 but sold it since I felt there was too much duplication between it and my Explorer 1. If I had bought the white dial instead, I would probably still have an OP39. Well done @markphilly!
I saw it in the sunlight in the AD's window, but I'll admit I didn't wear it outside. Ultimately it's missing something for me...I wish it had a mercedes hand, or black surrounds on the indexes, or ... something. It just falls flat for me.
You are probably like me. I had one for ~4 months and tried hard to like it but ultimately found it dull. I understand why many love it but when I'm not a white watch guy so if I go white, I want a stark porcelain white like the Daytona or Polar, not metallic silver that looks dingy indoors and pearly outdoors. Same reason I didn't keep an Ingy 3239 and same reason JLC generally doesn't appeal to me.
Congratulations. It's a great watch. I've had mine since February and just love it, even though a recently acquired 16710 has been getting the most wrist time. I love the way it can change color depending on the light.
I picked one up 2 weeks ago and it has not left my wrist since I got it. It is a perfect, everyday watch that flies under the radar. I love everything about it.
The explorer 1 is on my list and that was another reason I went for the white, so I'm glad you mentioned it. Can't find a new explorer I or I'd buy one, too.
Top Rolex in my book. Thin, water resistant with full lume, and no Mercedes hand or date. Dresses up, dresses down, you can easily wear it everyday, with anything.
My AD has had one for several weeks and I noticed it was finally gone when I stopped by today. It's such a beautiful watch and a great value price for Rolex. If I wasn't holding out trying to wait till I can get a SubC I would have bought it. One of the best bang for the buck Rolex models IMO.
A great everyday watch with great visibility. I was always a black dial kinda of person but sadly as I get older some of them black dials get a bit harder to read. So I have been looking at white dial watches.
If I was in the market for another Rolex, it would be this watch. No date (plenty of things around me that show the date like my phone, computer, Alexa etc) to have unscrew the crown to set (I have owned watches with screwdown crowns for decades but I still get worried about cross threading even though I am cautious)
If this was a person's only watch and they lived in a place that did not change time for daylights saving time and this person did not travel out of a time zone, then they would not have to touch the crown. No date and chronometer specs mean it should keep perfect time for years.

I picked mine up a month or so ago. It's a great piece, very versatile and the white changes between silver, pure white and cream depending on the lighting. I was lucky enough to get one the afternoon it had been delivered to store, but my previous enquiries led me to believe wait times were between 3-6 months, as the white and black options have become quite popular given the shortage of sports models.
For me, the only thing I would change would be to add an Easy Link to the clasp. Personally I think that any modern luxury watch should have some form of adjustment available.
Nice looking Rolex, quality without the flash of some models.
I went for the Grape Dial which I thought was a brave choice for staid old Rolex, but I prefer the index markers on the latest models in white and black.
In general, I'm not a huge white dial fan. But the three that appeal to me most are the Polar Explorer, the Sinn 104, and this OP. I also like some of the higher end watches with porcelain dials.
I think what does it for me on the OP are the raised indices and a nice 39mm size. It's really sharp in every way. For those who say it's boring--maybe that's another reason I like it.
Awesome! I think it'll be a great all-occasion watch
