So as of this weekend, I'm on my first wait list for a fine watch. A Tudor in fact. Yay me! lol.
So, as giddy and antsy in my pantsy as I am waiting for my new watch to arrive, how often do you guys check in? Every week, every two? Once a month, never? Do you phone it in, email, in person? Is it the 6th month mark that a box of chocolates becomes helpful?
I'm sure I'm not the only one that's super excited lol
Can't see where you're located. I guess your AD will call you? Mine does but I have an ongoing relationship with my AD so I am not forgotten; as in out of sight, out of mind.
In Texas for the record, and they do have my contacts. I just imagine that if I stay in constant contact and show interest, as opposed to those that don't than I might get luckier sooner.
Being happy to be on a waitlist... oh dear.
Yeah, bring chocolates and an additional wad of cash so they can maybe not forget your name on a scribbled pad for groceries and clients wanting a sub and other watches.
You're lucky to be on a waitlist for a 58 - as ADs they throw scraps to hoi polloi like so many Roman emperors. But seriously - what's the uplift on a 58 at a grey? $900? That's a couple of car payments at most, or a quarterly Starbucks bill. Just pay it - and if the AD ever remembers you, pick up the watch and immediately flip it. In the meantime, they can buy their own snacks )
You dont know what you've unwittingly started with this thread. Anything that mentions Wait list gets attention from a handful of people that pile onto it and end up fighting amongst themselves, using cut and paste while the poor OP spends hours deleting his inbox. I think its regional but I dont think the BB wait will be too long. They only tell you that so you dont ring up after a week. By waiting list I assume you mean youve left a deposit etc and they know youre 100% about one. They get bombarded with emails and people walking in off the street asking for all sorts so ive known ADs just write their names down to get rid of them. Doesn't hurt to chase it along every few weeks though and supplies seem to be trickling through a bit faster. I think you're doing the right thing going via an AD. Gives you that stamped AD card which can be well worth the wait if youre unlucky to have issues with it. Enjoy your new BB when it arrives.
I personally don't get why you should bother checking in. Unless you are genuinely interested in talking with them. I'm not desperate enough for any watch such that I have to "work" on getting it while I pay $$$ for it in the end.
As people have said, if you really want it asap buy some premium and go grey...
Waitlist for a Tudor? What is this world coming to? No, you shouldn't be happy about that, it's total garbage that you'd even have to wait for one. The P01, I get it because it's not really out, but the BB58 and similar, they should be in stock. Amazing to me that Rolex would be playing this game at the entry level. It defeats the purpose of limiting Rolex supply.
The BB58 is a very nice watch — good luck and I hope it arrives soon for you!
Houston is a pretty big watch market, and I imagine are probably 5+ Tudor ADs in the area. I would check them all out. As for your current AD, are you waitlisted on a promise/hope, or did you pay up front? If just a promise, then I’d check them all and get on multiple waitlists.
Of course, as others have noted, it may be worth you time and effort to buy “grey” — I’d at least keep an eye on the trusted sellers, as the price might not be that far off your AD + TX sales tax. I recently got one watch through luck, walking by an AD, and another I couldn’t wait forever, so I paid the premium.

Indeed. I'm on 2 lists, going to call another today. Ben Bridge is here, and I've called them. They want full payment up front, with no guarantee or a watch ever arriving. Another dealer wants $500 down, with 3 month wait.
I would go grey, but I want the experience of new, with my name listed as #1, original purchase. This watch won't be flipped, and will be given to my son at some point.
Hope I didnt de-rail your thread. I was able to save about 20% by not going through my local AD (once sales tax, etc., factored in). Either way, enjoy your new watch!
If this is the watch you want, the way you want it then good luck. If you have the $$$ already I would suggest putting it in something liquid where it can work for you (like a money market). That way its not just sitting there and its making you more than it would in a regular checking/savings account.
I am in Houston and I received one BB58 on bracelet when they first came out. I have yet to see another one at the ADs when just visiting the local dealers. Seems like they are spoken for when they arrive to the stores in this lack of supply environment. I would assume it would be 3 months max with a deposit? I would check in every 2 weeks?
Pestering them is not going to help, and will only add to your stress.
Wait, wait, wait for them to call.
