Where would you consider buying a Pre-owned Rolex Submariner from

    Hi guys,

I would have always considered myself a 'Omega man' but I have decided to dip my toe into the realm of Rolex. I am considering a pre-own Sub, most likely the 116610LN or the 16610 depending on price!!

I am looking for advice as to where I might buy one? In the US or Europe ... basically wherever members feel that I might get a good/fair deal from a very reputable dealer. I'd rather pay a little extra to ensure a full set from a reputable source.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts

    Regards

    William.

Most members would recommend you to DavidSW, one of the forum sponsors. He runs a store, is knowledgeable in all things Rolex, carries most of the more recent models, good customer service, reasonable prices (*) for the quality of watch.

(*) fair/cheap prices does not apply to pre- owned Rolex. It is probably 10 - 15% above retail.

DAVIDSW is great as well; yeah you'll pay more but you'll have peace of mind

HQMilton is also great to work with (although their specialty is more vintage)

I would have thought this totally depends on where you live! No point recommending DW if you’re only then going to get slapped with import taxes is there!! And surely it’s better to buy from a brick and mortar store that you can visit and actually handle, inspect and then maybe negotiate on? There are a myriad of reliable used watch dealers, often within an AD, that are just as likely to give you a good deal.

As thousands of threads and posts will attest, the best “deal” in Rolex right now is brand new from a Rolex AD — that is the lowest price you will find, best quality, etc. Of course, that is much easier said than done.

Otherwise, the sellers as mentioned above — I recommend buying the best version you can reasonably afford. The Rolex market is pretty liquid, and market prices and “deals” don’t vary much — usually the price reflects the condition.

    Good luck!

yes, but the OP indicated US and Europe.

and if you see my location, i did pay those import duties when i got my Sub. it ended up costing just a bit more than had i bought it in country, but i got the specific model i wanted and from a trusted seller. it was worth it to me.

like others have mentioned - davissw, takuya and bob’s watches are good sources for pre-owned watches...

I would prefer to get one from a private seller and have it authenticated before purchase. Usually you can get the pricing down when dealing with a private seller.
