Because the shortage rolex and hard to get also probably sell to vip or preferred customer will rolex move to patek class ??? And Tudor is being made to get more younger and professional class also more affordable also more dare design. ?? ... I know my questions ridiculous ...
i means in the long term period , yeah to build brand like rolex probably need a century ..
I hate the fact that some ADs sell only to VVIPs and preferred customers. I rang one of the ADs and ask about the Tudor P01, but the guy said it's high demand and prioritise waiting list to VVIP clients.
Than I rang another AD, they said, yep no problem, I'll place you and you'll be the first on the list.

OMG, I was thinking the Tudor P-01 could potentially be the future "crazy money" Daytonas of the future. You couldn't give away Daytonas back when they were first released. I wonder if I should get one and pack it away to see what happens. Problem is the leather will deteriorate as the years go by.
Yes they sell only to vip ,preferred customer , also they sell with bundling watches that the AD have in store ...., if you wanna get daytona you must bundling with high value watches maybe Datejust
I hope not, I'm a lifelong watch enthusiast but only recently finally bought my first Rolex and now I'm smitten and want to add more to my collection. Makes me sad that they're so hard to get new now. Don't get me wrong, Tudor is a great watch, I have a Pelagos and BB58, but Rolex is still nicer and better finished IMO. I'd like to see more Tudors that are thinner like the BB58.
Tudor as designed to be a more attainable piece with Rolex characteristics. That is their market so no I do not think that they are moving into Rolex's position. I believe there is a tiny exception with the newer pieces such as the GMT and 58 being on waiting lists but these are not significant.
As for Rolex wanting to move into Patek territory, that's their wish but ultimately won't make it. Patek is haute horology, Rolex is not. Rolex is more about brand marketing that just happens to make very good movements and were innovative but I wouldn't call it haute horology in the same league as the holy trinity.
Rolex is never going to be Patek..., but IMO is trying to reach the legacy of Patek by playing a nice marketing game due to the lack of watches...
Many of us support Rolex by playing this game, i mean by demanding & willing to pay over costs in order to get a time piece.
We have to be patient, the near future will show the results...
Maybe on price point but everything is getting more expensive.
I don't see Tudor competing with Omega outside of this subforum, and I also see Omega being more successful in fitting into the void which Rolex have left.
Rolex is performing brilliantly in the niche they occupy. There is no sinister plot. Rolex just makes some gorgeous new designs and cannot possibly keep up with demand.
This is absolutely the correct answer. I am not an industry expert, nor do I have to be to understood what is happening to Rolex. The demand for sports model Rolex watches has far outpaced supply and Rolex does not, has not and will not increase supply just to meet current demand. Now, is Rolex trying to increase supply of certain models to at least put watches in cases? Maybe. Only time will tell.
As for having to be a VIP customer of an AD to buy in-demand watches. To some degree that is true when talking about the more exclusive models, but when it comes to Explores and Subs, you just need to be a known customer who has bought a watch or two or jewelry from the AD. I have talked with my Rolex AD and they get Subs in on a regular basis, but not enough to stock the cases. So, the AD keeps the Subs in the safe and when a good customer walks in looking for one, they have a good chance of getting one at MSRP. Now I wasn't offered one, but on one visit was informed that they had a no-date Sub in the safe and I am sure that the AD would have sold it to me if I had said I wanted it. I am a good customer seeing that I have bought a few watches over the past few years from my Rolex AD. And no, the watches I bought were not Rolex's. So just need to be a good customer.
Will this be the case for every AD? No. But you won't know until you ask.
I'm not sure they can without a major identity change.
Rolex sports models often have sharp case lines, no display case-backs, and are made of steel. If you look at the back side of a Patek, you'll see why it's 2-3 times the price of a Rolex. Rolex would have to make drastic changes to compete. And drastic changes are not something Rolex does.
I think places like WUS is a bit of an echo chamber to what Tudor is supposed to be, or will be in the future. For example, according to FHH Journal on 2018 sales, Tudor sold about CHF 280 million compared to CHF 2.34 billion for Omega (which would become Tudor's direct competitor if Rolex is indeed moving further and further up market).
And who would want to be Patek, anyway? They don't move a lot of units, they are highly priced, their designs are boring, and Mr. & Mrs. Camry have no idea what a Patek is.
I don't think so because Rolex would have to move into grand complications, and I think the Sky Dweller is as complicated as they're going to get. It would be nice if they focused on thinness though. I saw a batman in person for the first time and it sits nicely on the wrist but still so thick.
Doesn't matter what a Tudor owner in an enthusiast forum thinks.
My peers in the executive conference room, my subordinates in the cafeteria, passers by in coffee shops, commuters on trains, passengers in business class, waitresses, flight attendants, janitors, you name it, everyone knows what Rolexes are and what they look like.
We get excited about improvements on 20+ year old references. They get excited to be in the presence of greatness.
