    Re: Accidental Ball Collector

I thank you all! My pleasure to share. I believe Ball's design aesthetic has evolved over the past year as they've pushed the envelope, technically. They're making much needed improvements to the Roadmaster bracelet and have broken unchartered ground in Tritium dial design. The H3 tubes buried beneath the sandwich dial on my Hydrocarbon Original look like ivory inlays in light. And no other watchmaker I know of is making illuminated sapphire infinity bezels with Tritium tubes hidden inside. Ball has started doing one of a kind design.

What a beautiful collection you got there. Although I have the Engineer Hydrocarbon, I secretly admire my wife's Victory and is such a lovely daily office wear watch. In that same vein, I love the Trainmaster you got. Great looking watch with that nice vintage feel to it.

Great collection. I too have kinda accidentally built up a collection. I'm at 6 and plan on getting down to 2.

What have you got and why the downsize? Like the OP I seem to be moving in the opposite direction!

I was like the OP as well. I keep seeing models I liked so if buy them. Six watches later, I realized maybe I got a little too crazy.
One of them is still in the mail.
    My Ball collection:
Engineer Master II Diver (the newer version with one crown)
    Train Master First Flight
    Roadmaster GMT
    Train Master eternity
    BMW GMT
    Engineer Master II Voyager

Pretty sure I'm going to keep the Eternity for my dress watch. Not sure what else I'm going to keep.

A husband and wife were arguing...
WIFE: Honey, you said no more watches!
HUSBAND: I did not! I said... No, more watches.

A beautiful collection. (Nearly) Like you, I went from zero to four in the space of just over a year. I love them all but like fungo45 I'll be cutting back next year to no more than one. I do have a reason - my hands are finding screw-down crowns increasingly difficult to manage - so I'll probably just keep the Fireman Glory as a black dress watch. To my eyes its simplicity makes it perfect, especially on a good strap, even though it was the cheapest of the four I currently own.

Reminds me of a book by an English author, Lynne Truss and titled Eats, Shoots and Leaves. LOL.

    Re: Accidental Ball Collector

Can someone who's owned a Ball watch for over 5 years comment on the lume dying? I read that it's very expensive to replace those tritium tubes. This has been stopping me, along with the fact they are now owned by a Chinese company. Will the quality go down? And will the prices go down, similar to what happened to Glycine? Would love your thoughts on this, I've passed on Ball watches because of those two concerns.
