    Ball Accuracy

Considering a Ball Trainmaster Eternity and was wondering how owners find the accuracy of their Ball watches?

I have the DeepQuest and Ceramic XV, both of which are accurate to within +/- 1 sec/day. Ball makes some terrific watches.

    Re: Ball Accuracy

I've owned more than 60 Ball watches over the last 13 or 14 years--almost all have operated within COSC parameters, and ALL with factory specs (basically +/- 15 secs per day for non-COSC watches)--my current two are a second or two off per day, one a 13 year old Fireman, the other a four year old Trainmaster, both shown in my signature, below (2nd and 4th, respectively).

I own a deep Quest and a captain Poindexter. Both fantastic watches that run within one second per day. Very high quality pieces.

Engineer and Fireman (currently) and always make my meetings on time....

Their watches are very consistent always.

+2 spd for my Fireman two- tone since I've had it for a year. High quality all around.

    Re: Ball Accuracy

Congrats on the Eternity, one of the most beautiful watches currently available IMHO

I believe Ball uses the “Top” grade movement (second best - just under the chronometer) and are competant regulators

Mine seems very accurate, although only bought recently so not that much time to test

    Re: Ball Accuracy

I have three Ball watches--two have ETA chronometer movements and keep time within a second or two a day. The third is a Top grade ETA movement and runs about 3 s/d fast. All are very fine watches.

    Re: Ball Accuracy

I used the watchtracker app and it came up with +2.7 seconds, which I don’t trust
I also used the Toolwatch app which is more accurate IMHO and it came up two times with +5.7 exactly. I will run it again and also try pc analyser when I get some time. Basically that makes my top grade Eternity within COSC:
    1. COSC (Chronometer) with -4 spd / + 6 spd
    2. Rolex Superlative Chronometer with -2 spd / +2 spd
    3. METAS ranging from 0 to +5

If I had a choice, I would prefer fast then slow, as you end up early for meetings and not late :D

Also worth demagnetising every year. Haven’t work out which demagnetiser to buy. There are ones for £9.99 on amazon but not sure I trust them. On the other hand the good ones seem to start at around £200.

Ho hum. Another day another tweak :)

A watch is either magnetized, or its not--you don't need to demagnetize once a year, but only on an as needed basis. And generally demagnetizers work on the same principle, where higher cost buys you very little--all will demagnetize the watch--I use the cheap version (in fact I have two), and it works fine, and of the more than 200 watches that I've owned (including over 60 Ball watches), I don't think I've ever needed to demagnetize the same watch twice...
