    Ball Warranty Not Transferable

Just got off the phone with Ball and I was a little disappointed to find that the year old Fireman that I recently purchased on the WUS sales forum was no longer under warranty. Just a heads-up to anyone who is considering purchasing a pre-owned Ball. You are on your own if service should be required.

    Re: Ball Warranty Not Transferable

. . . an unannounced policy change last year that I'm surprised hasn't generated more posts. Fortunately I'm the original purchaser of my only Ball in need of warranty repair.

Another manufacturer on WUS (not Ocean7) also has adopted the same policy without announcing it on its "official forum." I'm waiting to hear the screams.

Hmmm. So this policy was changed after the original sale of this watch? Seems to me that the policy that was in force at the time of original sale should be the one that Ball should honor.

Sadly ex post facto principles apply generally to criminal law only.

Whether a warranty is transferable to someone other than the original purchaser should be written in the language of the warranty itself. I guess I don't quite understand why a company policy would dicatate that, and not the specific parameters of the warranty.

Well I am not an attorney, but it would seem to me that a warranty is a kind of contract that all parties agree to at the time of purchase.

    Re: Ball Warranty Not Transferable

IMO, a used watch sale not under warranty should lower the cost of the sale price. How much is a 2 or 3 year warranty worth? I don't know.

However, if the watch needs a repair in the first 3 - 5 years after purchase due to no fault of the owner, it says something about the quality of the watch and the company.

I'm sure a good watch company would not want their reputation scarred by watches that need a lot of service during the first 5 years.

Perhaps a "no warranty" on second hand purchases clause should be mandatory in all "for sale" posts?

    Any admin input on this?

don't think this is is a WUS issue. I think this is a manufacturer issue.
