Engineer II Navigator - COLOR Problem

The blue faced watches are very much closer to black than the blue in the marketing photos.
I have been in contact with Ball and am awaiting a reply.
Has anyone else received a "blue" faced watch and is not satisfied?

It looks like a navy blue to me. Don't forget the stock photos are taken with lighting/light boxes which will ultimately alter the actual appearance of the dial.
A prime example was my Seiko purple night monster. The stock photo made the dial look almost dark magenta in appearance. I asked questions to people who have seen it in person and was assured that it was more like a Barney purple so I purchased it. The advice I got was correct.
I also purchased a new JDM only blue monster that is very dark blue. Stock pictures made it appear much lighter, but posts on the Seiko forum said otherwise. I really didn't care, as the watch was more important to me than subtleties in color. In bright light it resembles the pictures.
Your screen settings, lighting will both affect how a color appears. So always take what you see with a grain of salt.
Take the watch out into the sun and watch its color pop.
Buy a watch because you like the brand, appearance of the hands/markers and general color. If you aren't sure about the color, ask questions before buying.
Enjoy your new Ball, it is a great piece.

Even in the brightest of direct sunlight it appears as black. there is no contrast between the black hands and the face

Re: Engineer II Navigator - COLOR Problem

I would call this "midnight blue" which I find more appealing than medium or navy blue myself, and yes, the dial color IS clearly darker than the color represented in the computer graphic image--that is one of the risks you assume when you buy something unseen, a responsibility you take.

I had the same thing happen with another of my favorite brands, Carpenter--they offered the same model with black, and in their words, blue, dials. As I already had black, and loved it, and had an opportunity to get the blue version, I grabbed it. It was, however, very dark, what I call a midnight blue. I sold it simply because it was too close to my black dial--however, it was blue in some lights, and it was extremely attractive. One thing I didn't do was to complain to Carpenter because their blue was too dark.

There is contrast even in your pictures between the black base of the hands, and the dial, and of course the watch is easy to read with the white main part of the hand blades--not sure what you are expecting Ball to do here...

The first, below, is the "blue" M12, and the second, the black M11.

The contrast and actual blue you describe are similar to my Engineer III Legend. It was advertised as a lighter blue and I received a midnight blue. It is annoying, but has grown on me. I still would have liked the lighter, more sunray-dial looking blue in the ad.
