Confused Face on my EMII Diver is now upside down.

    Hi Ball Enthusiasts

The face on my Ball EMII Diver all of a sudden is upside down. I acquired this 8-9 years ago here in the marketplace from a reputable member. It originally came from Toppers, and he included all the appropriate paperwork. I have never opened the watch, nor have I had anyone service it. I haven't been abusive to it, it's just been my daily since I purchased it. I love this watch! I've never seen anyone else with that owned one. It was on my wrist and it was correct when I put it on. Then later in the evening I checked time, and didn't know what was going on there for a few seconds.

Is this normal for an older watch? Do I have any kind of warranty options considering I got it 2nd hand? If not, is it something that can be fixed for a reasonable cost?

Thanks in advance for any insight anyone can offer.

    David

I think your warranty ended years ago. They are usually only for a few years. Find a local watch repair and bring it in. You can always send it to Ball of course, but its clearly out of warranty. Ball will charge you more I would think though

I just had my Fireman Ionosphere serviced by Ball. $595 to overhaul the movement and $285 to replace the dial.

Send it to Ball for a replacement dial.

Bring it to a watchmaker and they can slap some dial dots on it. They could maybe re-solder the dial feet back on.

First, even if the watch were 8 days old, and not 8 years, you would have no warranty coverage, as Ball warranties are not transferable. Second, Ball would unlikely still have dials in their inventory to cover a watch produced a decade ago--several years ago I worked with Rob in trying to get a dial switched for my Fireman, at that time about the same age as yours is now, and was told no dials were left (and really, the dial isn't the problem, it just became unseated). Third, this (the unseating) does happen to watches in general (not so often, but does happen), and is relatively easy (and cheap) to repair--locally--no need to go to Ball for this, unless you want to pay well more in both time and cash than what you could do locally.

I've never seen that happen on any watch ever. I would take it to a reputable watch repair and have them take a look to see what exactly happened. I don't think sending it to Ball would be worth what they would charge.

Me neither. Very rare for something like that to happen, but I agree, send it to Ball for a dial replacement. For something like this it is best for the manufacturer to deal with it.

    Good luck.

Thank you kindly for all the responses.

Considering the excellent deal I got on this 9 years ago, I doubt it will be worth it to go through Ball directly. I know a local enthusiast who trades a lot of rare watches, and I have reached out to him for a local repair recommendation. I will report back with the findings on what exactly happened here. I thought it was odd too, especially for a piece that bills itself as shock proof and built for "adverse" conditions. My brand perception is slightly lowered after this.
