Leather straps for Ball Hydrocarbon Series?

    Hi,

I'm a proud owner of the white dial Engineer Hydrocarbon Titanium(mad-cow). I've been wearing it with the OEM Bracelet most of the time and am getting rather bored with it. Sure it is gorgeous but I was just wondering whether any of you guys actually tried to pair the mad cow with a leather straps? Please give some suggestions and thank you for your time :)

    Regards

Ball apparently toyed with the idea when it introduced the Hydrocarbon line. I once caught an early model on eBay and saved the pictures (see them below).

I believe that Jeremy at Ball responded to posts on this forum about the leather strap, saying that Ball tried to make it work, but they couldn't find/build a leather strap that could hold up long-term with the Hydrocarbon's lug set-up.

I once asked Shane DeLaurian if he could build a strap to fit, but I never followed through when he said he would consider it.

Maybe Jeff or Jeremy can elaborate further, but I'm pretty sure I'm remembering right.

Here are the pics of the Ball Hydrocarbon on leather, that never went into mass production (very nice looking, IMHO!):

Guess a white strap for the EHC classic I would looks great. For black leather, the black dial EHC would looks great.

Rob, you're right on the money!

The leather straps were tested by special request of our partners in Dubai, Damas Jewellery. Ultimately we simply could not trust them to match our standards for the Engineer Hydrocarbon line.

I've discussed the EH line with Shane a bit as well, but we never moved forward with any project. If there's interest here, perhaps we can do something special for you forum members.

    Best Regards,
    Jeremy

    +1

I would actually consider another Ball purchase if a leather band could be had for a hydrocarbon, especially if it can take a deployant buckle and had some waterproofing.
