My Trainmaster Heritage has gone missing from USPS !!!

    Hi All:

I'm a bit stressed here. I got my Trainmaster Heritage a couple of months ago and have been loving it. However, a few weeks ago I noticed a red piece of lint had somehow made its way onto the dial. It was visible to the naked eye and, being a WIS, it drove me nuts. So, I contacted the good folks (real good folks) at Ball USA and they told me to send it to them to fix the problem.

The watch went out last Tuesday (10/9) via USPS Registered Priority. To date, the watch has not arrived in St. Pete. USPS does not have any idea at this point where the watch is because their record show that it is still at the office of acceptance. USPS said that did not make sense.

I have a bad, bad feeling about this. Any thoughts? I thought USPS Registered was the safest way to ship.

If the watch has indeed gone missing (stolen), what is the claims process like? How long should I expect to wait for compensation? What can expect from the whole process?

    Thanks
    Michael
    Kindest regards
    Michael

    Do not sweat it Michael,

"Registered" packages via USPS can be weird sometimes....

I have sent stuff Registered to LA from TPA and it made it in 2 days.
My last Package from MIA to NYC took 5 days and about 2 years ago I sold Rolex GMT to a guy in Midwest ....and it took 8 days !!

You just never know. It is many times even 'slower' than their 1st class mail as
it is constantly under "lock & key" and people always have to sign for it as
it is passing from hand to hand via USPS system.

Despite all this - IMO - it is the safest way to ship a watch.
My guess is that it will be delivered tomorrow or THU for sure.

    Best of luck.

    Hi Michael,

Milos is right, please don't give up hope. As Milos said, Registered Priority can oftentimes take considerably longer to reach its destination than regular old mail, simply because every person who handles the package must sign for it. This can definitely slow down the transit process, but really makes for a safe and reliable shipment.

Also keep in mind that, while it is a safe and reliable method of shipment, the USPS' tracking system is, imho, one of the poorest in the industry, in regards to providing real time updates on where a package might be at any point in time.

Hang in there, and please keep us posted.
    Take care,
    Geoff

I think it will arrive safe soon. Keeping my fingers crossed. If not, we have the serial number. Limited editions like this tend to show up sooner or later. If it shows up at Sothebys or on the 'Bay we will nail it! (as an aside, we at Ball Watch USA are required by law to keep every serial number of every watch).

The USPS works in mysterious ways and you sent it the most secure way offered by USPS. Keep in touch with the originating and destination post offices and ask them (very nicely) to try their best to trace it. I have had insured Priority mail "disappear" for a few days only to be found at the destination post office once someone was bothered to go and physically find it. Also be sure that it was not actually delivered to Ball and they did not record receipt. That happened to me when I sent my UTS watch back for service. UTS says they did not receive it and once the guy looked in his office, it was sitting there.......Duh! Try not to panic.

Oh No! I do hope that it turns up ok, we're rooting for you here. There is nothing more worrying than something like that happening!

My experience with USPS sending a parcial to the UK was that it took over TWO WEEKS! I tend to get stuff from China in 6-7 days........ Oh yes, and the tracking was bloody useless. Hope everything is ok.

    Good luck!

Registered can take forever but it is almost impossible that it would be lost. Very secure way to send valuable items, under lock and key every step of the way is my understanding which is why it takes so long.
