    Night Train in for service

Since they aren't many accounts of service in regards to lume replacement etc, I figured I would start a thread. I've had my Night Train for about a decade now, and finally made the decision to send it in for a full service and lume replacement. This is an original Night Train that has the tri color lume so it was a concern that Ball would have a dial / handset for it that would match. Ball USA indicated that their watchmaker would reach out to Switzerland to see what would be available. As it turns out, a dial and handset was located and is now inbound to Florida.

So, we will see how this shakes out! Since the lume was likely somewhere around the half life of tritium, it will be very interesting to see the new dial. I'll update the thread once I receive it back from service.

Very interested my x lume didn't seem very bright when I received it this year (bought new) compared to my other tritium watch (isobrite armourlite) I am wondering if a lume swap would brighten it up.

I had the hands replaced when I serviced my 10 year old EM II diver.
But the dial and bezel lume where not replaced. You can tell the difference in brightness very easily!

Do let us know when you have it back!

I'm so curious though - since this is an old dial... are the tritium tubes added prior to shipping? I mean, if it's old stock, then wouldn't the tubes be old as well therefore negating the replacement? Ball did indicate that it was an exact match... so I wonder what the actual process is.

Update - the watch has been received and inspected and I have a quote now to replace the dial and handset as apparently the rest of the watch is in working order. Will report back once the work is complete.
